Step-by-Step Guide on Brow Lamination

Brow lamination is the secret to achieving fuller, fluffier and beautifully shaped brows with results lasting up to 8 weeks.

The Alba Re;Set Lash Lift & Brow Lamination System is made in Korea and powered by a Cysteamine + TGA hybrid formula, combining gentle processing with fast, reliable results.

The system includes:

  • Re;Lax – Step 1 Softening Cream

  • Re;Vive – Step 1.5 Hydration & pH-Balancing Cream

  • Re;Form – Step 2 Neutralising Cream

  • Re;Fine – Viscosity Modifying Gel

  • Silk Protein Aftercare Serum – final hydration, styling and aftercare

This step-by-step guide will walk you through how to use the Re;Set system for professional brow lamination.

CAUTION: Alba professional products are designed for trained professionals only and are not intended for DIY or home brow lamination treatments.

1. Patch Test & Check Contraindications

Before performing a brow lamination, assess the client's skin and brow condition and check for any contraindications.

Do not perform the treatment on irritated, broken, sunburned or actively inflamed skin. Recent cosmetic procedures around the brow area should be fully healed before treatment.

Ask your client about previous brow laminations, chemical treatments, sensitivities, allergies and active skincare products around the brow area.

We highly recommend performing a patch test before using the system on a new client.

Apply a small amount of each product to separate areas behind the ear or on the inner arm and monitor the area for 24–48 hours. If redness, swelling, itching or irritation occurs, do not proceed with the treatment.

2. Consultation

Brush the brows in different directions and assess the hair before beginning.

Consider:

  • Hair thickness and density

  • Previous brow laminations or chemical services

  • Hair condition and elasticity

  • Resistant or stubborn areas

  • The client's desired finished look

Some clients may prefer a fluffy, lifted brow, while others may want a softer and more natural shape.

Pro Tip: Don't rely on hair thickness alone when choosing your processing time. Previously processed, dry or compromised hairs may process much faster than healthy virgin brow hairs. Always monitor the hair throughout Step 1.

3. Cleanse & Prep

Thoroughly cleanse the brows using an oil-free cleanser to remove makeup, skincare, oil and sebum.

Remove any cleanser residue with a damp cotton pad and gently pat the brows dry.

Clean brows allow the solutions to coat and penetrate the hair more evenly.

Pro Tip: Be gentle when cleansing the area. Brow lamination involves several chemical and mechanical steps, so unnecessary rubbing or friction should be avoided.

4. Step 1 – Re;Lax Softening Cream

Re;Lax softens the brow hair and makes it flexible enough to be repositioned into a new shape.

Apply a generous, even layer of Re;Lax Step 1 across the brows, making sure each hair is thoroughly coated — especially near the base of the hair where resistant areas are commonly found.

At this stage, you do not need to brush the brows into their final shape.

Avoid unnecessarily rubbing the solution into the skin.

Cover the brows with lash & brow wrap to help maintain consistent processing.

Suggested Re;Lax Processing Times

Fine, previously processed or delicate brows: 3–4 minutes
Medium / normal brows: 5–6 minutes
Coarse or resistant brows: 7–8 minutes

Begin checking the hairs early rather than relying solely on the timer.

Gently brush a few hairs from side to side. When sufficiently processed, the hairs should feel soft and flexible and move easily without immediately springing back into their original position.

<Fully softened brows>

Do not continue processing once the desired flexibility has been achieved.

Pro Tip: For particularly thick brows or when you prefer a thicker, more controlled consistency, you can mix 80% Re;Lax + 20% Re;Fine Gel before application.

Once processing is complete, thoroughly remove Re;Lax using a dry cotton pad.

5. Re;Vive – Hydrate & Rebalance

After removing Step 1, apply a thin layer of Re;Vive Hydration & pH-Balancing Cream to the brows.

Re;Vive helps rebalance the hair after Step 1 while providing hydration and conditioning before neutralisation.

Allow it to sit briefly while you begin arranging the brows into their desired position.

If only a small amount of Re;Vive has been applied, it does not need to be completely removed before proceeding with Step 2.

Pro Tip: Re;Vive is especially helpful for brows that feel dry or more fragile after Step 1.

6. Shape the Brows

Using a soft brow lamination brush or applicator, gently brush the brow hairs into the desired final position.

Avoid pulling the hairs completely vertical unless that is the intended result. Following the natural growth pattern usually creates a softer, more wearable brow.

Pay particular attention to the front of the brow and the top line to create a balanced shape.

Once you are happy with the position, move directly to Step 2.

7. Step 2 – Re;Form Neutralising Cream

Re;Form Step 2 neutralises the hair and locks the brows into their new position.

Apply a generous and even layer over all processed brow hairs while taking care not to disturb the shape you have created.

Suggested Re;Form Processing Times

Fine or delicate brows: approximately 4 minutes
Medium / normal brows: approximately 5 minutes
Coarse brows: approximately 6 minutes

Once complete, gently remove Re;Form with a damp cotton pad.

Avoid excessive rubbing or pressure on the freshly processed brow hairs and surrounding skin.

8. Tinting, Waxing & Tweezing – Optional

If tinting, waxing or tweezing is included in the service, it can be performed after Step 2.

Keep in mind that freshly laminated brow hairs can absorb tint more quickly than untreated hairs, so monitor the colour carefully and follow the tint manufacturer's instructions.

Be particularly gentle with the skin and brow hairs following chemical processing.

Remove all tint residue thoroughly before moving to the final step.

9. Finish with Silk Protein Aftercare Serum

Complete the treatment with Alba Silk Protein Aftercare Serum.

Apply a small amount throughout the brows and brush them into the final shape.

The serum helps hydrate and condition freshly laminated brows while creating a smooth, glossy and beautifully styled finish without heaviness or stickiness.

You're all done!

Take your before-and-after photos and show your client how to brush and style their new brows at home.

10. Brow Lamination Aftercare

For the best long-lasting results, advise clients to care for their brows gently following their appointment.

For the first 24 hours, avoid excessive water, steam, sweating and heavy skincare directly over the brows.

After this period, gently brush the brows into shape each day and keep the hairs conditioned.

We recommend using Alba Silk Protein Aftercare Serum daily to hydrate, nourish and style the brows between appointments.

Brow lamination results can last for up to 8 weeks depending on the client's natural hair growth cycle, hair type and aftercare.
